Saving Money by Shopping Seasonal Sales

One of the easiest ways to save money is by shopping seasonal sales. By learning when each household item goes on sale, you can save hundreds of dollars a year.

The following sale calendar will help you make a schedule for shopping the sales. Keep in mind that local markets may vary depending on what products are native to your area. 

January
January often features White Sales where you can find bedding and bath supplies on sale. Also look for After-Christmas sales of Christmas merchandise, winter clothes, shoes, toiletries, tablecloths, purses, costume jewelry, furniture, toys, sports equipment, and appliances.

February
Furniture, rugs, mattresses, curtains, bedding, china, housewares, and stereo equipment.

March
Spring clothing, infant clothing, shoes, laundry appliances, skates, ski equipment, garden supplies, and luggage.

April
Easter clothing sales including suits, coats, and hats.

May
White sales again with bath and bedding supplies, women's undergarments, TV sets, handbags, and sportswear.

June
TV sets, refrigerators, fabrics, summer clothes, dresses, building materials, lumber.

July
Shoes, summer clothes, bathing suits, lingerie, sportswear, air conditioners, rugs and carpets, and summer sports equipment.

August
Furniture, camping equipment, housewares, lamps, coats, tires, yard tools, grills and tools, air conditioners, school supplies, school clothes, bathing suits, fans.

September
Back to school supplies, housewares, bicycles, children's clothing, gardening equipment, glassware, lamps, rugs and carpets, tools.

October
School clothes, school supplies, silverware, new cars.

November
Coats, quilts, shoes, boots, pre-Christmas sales, suits, kitchen appliances.

December
Toys, gift items, coats, shoes, and used cars. Make sure you get out the day after Christmas for all the great sales. Especially gift wrap, cards and other Christmas decorations.
